Who We Are
- Longchamp Charities, a New York- based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to helping disadvantaged
children and families transform their lives and their communities through the power of sustainable independent initiatives,
practical compassion and honor. Longchamp Charities saves children's lives everyday by operating feeding programs, simple
healthcare programs, and safe-haven homes. Also, we equip families for a successful future through education and training.
- Taina's Hope, a Longchamp Charities initiative created to improve the quality of life for destitute children in Haiti. The program provides children with shelter,
food, clothing, education, medical care, encouragement, and love. Taina's Hope gives Haiti's disadvantaged youth the tools and opportunities needed for creating a
bright, healthy, and promising future.
Why Haiti?
- On January 12th, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck near Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The number of fatalities is estimated to be over
250,000. Over one million people were left homeless and or living in make-shift shelters.
- Basic survival has become an even greater struggle for the majority of Haitian people, with over half of the population living in abject poverty.
- The mortality rate for children between the ages of one and four is among the highest in the world.
- Primary education in Haiti is rarely free. Only ten percent of Haitian children attend public schools. Limited access to a free
education means less than half of school-aged children are actually able to attend school.
- Lack of education causes tremendous human suffering in Haiti. We believe change is possible and are convinced that providing quality
education to Haitian children has the power to transform Haiti. Helping children go to school has been a top priority for Longchamp
Charities since its inception.
